Breaking News: PDP Chairman, Bamanga Tukur Resigns

According to punch, The embattled chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Bamanga Tukur has resigned in order not to be removed through passage of Vote of no confidence by the national executive council and the national working committee of the party.   The resignation takes effect immediately.

A senior member of the divided National Working Committee of the party confirmed the resignation and said President Jonathan will inform the meeting of the National Caucus of the party tonight in Abuja about the development.

At the same time, the wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan is said to be scheming to install the Minister of Transport, Sen. Idris Umar to Tukur

Bamanga tukur (CON) (born September 15, 1935) is a prominent  politician from Adamawa State, who served as Minister for Industries in the administration of General Sani Abacha during the 1990s. He was the second republic governor of Gongola State. With the support of President Jonathan, Tukur was elected as National Chairman of the PDP, in March 2012.

In 2013,  5 former PDP Governors defected to the main opposition party, All Progressive Party, (APC) over issues bothering on the leadership of the party.

Personally, I believe, the president should have let go of Tukur which would have stopped the defections of its members
