The resignation was announced on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.
Abati said, the chief of staff resigned to pursue his political ambitions in Edo state.
President Jonathan had in January given directives to members of his cabinet to resign should in case anyone of them intends to pursue personal political ambitions.
It would be recalled that President Jonathan sacked nine ministers in his cabinets about five months ago. The sacked ministers are yet to be replaced.
