Defection: 2000 PDP Members join APC

Governor Aliyu Wamakko
Despite the President Goodluck Jonathan  visit to Sokoto State over the weekend,  no fewer than 2000 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members have dumped the ruling party to join the All Progressive Congress, (APC).

The mass defection occurred in  Isa local government area of Sokoto state within a period of six weeks.

Speaking to newsmen on Sunday in Sokoto,  Interim Chairman of the APC in the area, Alhaji Aminu Shagari, said PDP members came en-mass to join the APC, he added that APC is a party that will deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

According to him, the defection of the people to the APC was a clear indication of the tremendous confidence and trust they have in Governor Aliyu Wamakko and his administration.

Sokoto is the only state in Nigeria that is presently administered by a governor/deputy governor leadership operating on different political platforms. Whereas Governor Aliyu Wamakko has defected from PDP to APC, his deputy and former Minister of Water Resources, Alhaji Mukhtari Shehu Shagari, refused to move with his boss
