Breaking News: Car Bomb leaves many dead in Borno

A car  laden with Improvised Explosives Device (IED) has went off in Maiduguri, Borno State, leaving many dead.

The blast was said to have been carried out by a lone suicide bomber, who carried the  explosives in a tricycle, popularly called Keke NAPEP.

The suicide bomber drove into the  Maiduguri post  office, a  crowded business area  where  traders, mostly from the eastern part of the country, sell handsets before detonating it.

According to punch news, Many of the traders  and others within the vicinity ran for safety as the blast shook the whole area leaving many dead.

Actual number of causalities is yet to be ascertained as at the time of this report.

Also no group has claimed responsibility  for the blast but there is certainty that the attack was carried out by the dreaded Boko Haram militant group.
When contacted, the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen Chris Olukolade, confirmed the bomb blast incident in Maiduguri and  said that security operatives had arrested a suspected insurgent in relation with the explosion.

 He said that the suspect was already assisting the investigating team with useful information.
