Police arrest two LG Chairmen in connection with Violent Rally in Port Harcourt

According to reports, the chairmen of  Khana Local Government Area,  Mr. Greg Nwidad and that of  Mr.  Gokana Local Government Area, Mr.  Demua Demua has been arrested by officers of the River State Police Command in connection with the Save Rivers Movement rally.

The two LG Boss were invited to the police station for interrogation in respect of the last weekend rally organised by the Save Rivers Movement in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports,  Nwidad was the first to be invited by the State Police Command for interrogation on Monday over the heavy shooting at the SRM rally but was however detained by police. His other colleague was equally detained on Tuesday.

The source said Nwidad, who had thought he would be allowed to go after police interrogation, was detained at the GRA Police Division.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, confirmed the arrest of the two council chairmen.
