We will not redeploy Rivers CP - PSC

The Police Service Commission has rebuffed calls for River State Commissioner Of Police, Joseph Mbu to be redeployed to other state saying that the State government has already  initiated a suit against the commission and the commissioner.

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressive Congress, has on Thursday supported recommendations from the Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka for the State Commissioner of police to be redeployed to other state.

The Commissioner in charge of media, PSC, Ms. Comfort Obi stated that while some members of the public were agitating for his redeployment, many other are commending his good works in the state.

She also decried the extent to which the CP’s office was being politicised.in the state saying that  the CP was not expected to be an errand boy to a state governor  but to perform his duty professionally.

According to her, even though the commission is not happy about the controversy surrounding Mbu, it can  only take a decision on him after the legal suit might have been resolved by the court, adding that the CP would continue to function in Rivers State for now.

Meanwhile, interest groups and the state government has repeatedly call for the removal of Rivers CP accusing him of unprofessional conduct and perpetuating the agenda of Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
