Immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has said he would not interfere in the administration of his successor, Mr. Willie Obiano.
He said this on Monday, after he handed over to Obiano in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
Obi said he had since packed his belongings from the Government House and would never have any reason to visit there, “let alone interfere in the affairs of the new administration.”
He said, “I have also since packed my things from the Governor’s Lodge, and I never forgot anything there. So, there would be no reason for me to be seen around there or be said to be interfering in Obiano’s government.
“I would henceforth operate from my village in Agulu. Anyone who wish to see me should please come to the village.”
The former Anambra State governor, however, said there would be no reason to interfere because he never had any agreement with Obiano
Obi said he was delighted that history has been made in Anambra State with the successful hand over of power from one administration to another.
“Chief Jim Nwobodo never handed over to the late Chief Christian Onoh. Chinwoke Mbadinuju never handed over to Dr. Chris Ngige, and Ngige never handed to me. But today and for the first time in Anambra State, an incumbent government is handing over to another,” he added.
Responding, Obiano said that his administration would be anchored on a four-point agenda.
The four-point agenda, he said, are aggressive mechanised agriculture, oil and gas, trade and commerce, and industrialisation.
He said, “We will re-train, re-equip and re-organise our people into cooperatives to enable them obtain funds from donor and international agencies.
“We shall provide the right environment for oil and gas business to thrive in the state.
“We shall introduce, re-organise and build ultra-modern markets and shopping malls in the state.”
He appealed to Anambrarians in the diaspora to bring home their skills and ensure the massive industrialisation of the state.
“Bring home your dollars and your skills, Anambra needs you. Ndigbo need you and Nigerians need you,” Obiano added.
