The first executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, yesterday declared his intention to contest the August 9 governorship election in the state at the secretariat of the Peoples' Democratic Party PDP in state.
Three aspirants of the party had earlier obtained the party's expression of interest form sold to them at the cost of N5 million.
The aspirants are Senator Iyiola Omisore, a former deputy governor of the state; Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, a former Minister of Youths Development and Hon Oluwole Oke, former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defence.
Consequently, Adeleke, who joined the race last week, made it cleared that he had consulted bigwigs in the party both within and outside the state before joining the governorship race.
Adeleke, an indigene of Ede in the Osun West senatorial district who ruled the state between 1992 and 1993, was elected into the senate in 2007 and he served as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It was however gathered that the former governor had gained the confidence and backing of some top political leaders in the country on his ambition to rule the state again.

Also, it was learnt that some individuals in the presidency were working round the clock to ensure his emergence as the PDP flag bearer for the gubernatorial poll.
OSReceiving the aspirant, the state Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, said the party would not impose any candidate from any quarters adding that all the aspirants should be prepared for the party's primaries slated for April.
