Over the weekend in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area, Lagos State, no fewer than 1000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The defectors were led by former chairman of the PDP in the LCDA.
This act is a boost to All Progressives Congress, APC, the Nigeria main opposition party. The defectors were led by former chairman of the PDP in the LCDA.
Former State Commissioner of Health in the state, Mr. Leke Pitan; former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Joko Pelumi; and APC Chairman in the LCDA, Mr. Lateef Sangosanya received the defectors.
One of the defectors, Segun Ogunsanya who was the PDP flag bearer in the Council during the 2011 election, described their decision to leave the PDP as “the best thing to do following the developmental strides” embarked upon by the incumbent chairman.
All Progressives Congress, APC. is the dominant party in Lagos State.
