Gunmen Kill Newswatch Editor in Ikorodu, Lagos

Deputy Editor of Saturday Newswatch, Mr. Toyin Obadina has died of gun shot.  Obadina was shot in the stomach in Ikorodu area on his way home from office by gunmen. 

He was later rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, where doctors battled to save his life through surgeries. 

According to reports, the armed men came in two Sport Utility Vehicles around 1am on Sunday morning, intercepted the deceased along Itoikin-Old Ijebu-Ode Road and shot at him before leaving the spot. 

The state police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP),confirmed the incidence and  said efforts were being made to arrest the suspects.

She said: "The DPO received a call informing him that Mr. Toyin Obadina (50 years), while driving a Toyota Yaris car with registration number AKD701CE, was attacked along Ijebu-ode by Hypo/Lucky Fibre junction.
However, the wife of the deceased, Bola told newsmen that her husband has done nothing wrong to warrant killing from armed men. 
Obadina, a deputy editor with Newswatch was survived by wife and three children.
