The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor and his Ahiara Diocese counterpart, His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Peter Eberechukwu Okpaleke have called on the Federal government to say no to the call for release of Boko Haram prisoners in exchange for the abducted Chibok girls.
The Bishops, who spoke in separate interviews said that giving in to their wishes would amount to promotion of criminality, rascality and break down of law and order, and also victory for the terrorists.
They spoke further, sharing the same view that agreeing to their ungodly desire would not only spell doom to the Nigeria nation but would as well engineer other disgruntled and ill-informed groups to lay
claim and ask for what is not right before man and God and also pave way for atrocities of various degrees.

Ezeokafor said, “it is not proper to start to negotiate with faceless
people because we know that they have no right to what they are doing; therefore, there will be no ground for any negotiation whatsoever.
They should allow the children to go; because they have no business holding them”.
Okpalaeke, who also lent his voice said, “Our stand is that Federal Government should ignore them and forge ahead with whatever they are doing to ensure the release of the abducted Chibok school girls.
“It is not proper for the government in any form at all to start negotiating with them because that will be enthroning criminality, because eventually, they will come up with another antics”.
“There is no reason anybody should be made to undertake compulsory conversion into any religion. It is barbaric, absurd and condemnable.
“So, we the Church have resorted to praying to God to touch the hearts
of the Boko Haram or whoever is behind it or in any way involved in the
abduction of the innocent school children for the onward release”,
Ezeokafor said.
