The Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu, Monday, placed a ban on all protests in Abuja calling for the freedom of Chibok schoolgirls currently being held Boko Haram insurgents.
NAN reports that since more than 200 girls were whisked away from Government Secondary School, Chibok, in Borno on April 14, 2014, several human interest groups have been staging protests across the nation, calling on president Goodluck Jonathan’s led government to bring back the girls.
The police boss made this announcement few days after some persons, suspected to be pro-government thugs, attacked a group of women protesters who have been holding daily peaceful protests in the Nigerian capital city.
