The Project Director of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in the Fedeeral Ministry Ministry of Professor AbdulSalam Nasidi has reported that no fewer than 71 people have died since the first cases of outbreak of Cholera was reported in November 2013.

According to the Director, 2165 cases of cholera have been recorded from 22 local government in Kano with Faggae local government area having 21 death from the disease.
Nasidi assured the members of the public that teams of professional health experts have been deployed to the state by the federal ministry of health to ensure the alleviation of the bacteria and oversee clean-ups.
The State Commissioner of Health ,Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf in an address, stated that the state government has spent over N76 million to provide necessary drugs to combat the disease in the affected local government areas of the state.

Cholera is caused by a bacteria that thrives on Lack of proper sanitation, dirty water, pit toilets, mounds of uncollected garbage. More than half of Nigeria population do not have access to clean water a third do not have proper toilets
