Afenifere reject National Dialogue committe 's Report

According to the thewilling, The Yoruba Group, Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) has on Sunday disagree with the recommendations and suggestions of the Presidential Advisory Committee (PAC) on the proposed National Dialogue.

The group said, the recommendations of PAC on the National Dialogue fails to identify people based on their ethnicity.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Kunle Famoriyo, the group said any conference convened based on the recommendations of the Senator Femi Okurounmu-led committee cannot meet the yearnings of Nigerians.

The group maintained that the National dialogue should involve each ethnic group in the country and through the federal constituencies, which has been used a platform for injustice, social, and political discriminations.

According to ARG, “Nigeria has six administrative regions, which have become a defining structure for almost any national issue. Our recommendation therefore is that equal number of delegates should come from each administrative zone and these delegates should be selected by ethnic nations within each zone.

“We reject also the recommendation that conference delegates should be saddled with the responsibility of deciding how decisions and outcomes of the proposed conference would be integrated into the Constitution and Laws of Nigeria.
The issue of ethnicity is always a delicate and grave area in Africa. Many countries in the continent have plunged into war due to ethnicity related issue. And what ethnicity does is to create enmity, stiffens development and promote mediocrity.
