Breaking News: Ronaldo Wins FIFA Ballon d'Or

Real Madrid  star, Christiano Ronaldo has been named the 2013 FIFA Ballon d'Or  beating off competition from Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Frank Ribery of Bayer Munich.

The former Manchester United star was previously crowned the award in 2008.

Ronaldo was in tears while receiving the award in  Switzerland. The Real Madrid forward finally ends the reign of Argentina's Lionel Messi, who held the coveted award since 2009 while he was a runner up.

The 28-year old Portuguese football star, who opened a museum in December in his native said he has more awards to display.

His professional football career started in  Sporting Lisbon in 2002 before leaving for Manchester United. In 2009,  he moved to Real Madrid  with $150 million contract.

Record has it that Ronaldo is worth about $130 million
