Chief Michael Botmang was the two-term deputy to Chief Joshua Dariye from 1999 to 2007 and acted briefly as governor from 13 November 2006, when Dariye was impeached by six out of the 24 members of the State House of Assembly. He held that position until 27 April 2007, when the Supreme Court ordered the reinstatement of Dariye. He was said to have died from complications arising from diabetes.
Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau state hasin a statement paid tributes saying the late deputy governor of the state; Chief Michael Botmang served humanity to the best of his ability.
The governor while reacting to the death of Chief Botmang lauded his contribution to democracy in Nigeria and his passion for a better Plateau state.
Governor Jang noted that Chief Botmang fought in sickness to live and urged the family to accept his death as God’s time for him adding that “Chief Botmang loved the people and will be greatly missed
