The defection drama in the political terrain is yet to come to an end. About 2, 500 members of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and the Labour Party, (LP) in Cross River State have defected to the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.
According to the Interim Chairman of APC in cross river state, Mr Alex Irek, the defectors included
included 1, 500 LP members from Akpabuyo Local Government Area and 1, 000 PDP members in Alankwo ward, Boki LGA.
Irek said, “I am sure everyone is seeing what is happening. There is a wind of change coming and it is coming strong. We urge our supporters to remain strong and defend the party. We also urge supporters to canvass and bring more members. APC will rule this country in 2015.”
The spokesperson for the defectors in Akpabuyo, Mr Bassey Okon, said they joined APC due to crisis in their former party.
He expressed joy over their acceptance into the party and assured that they will work to ensure APC takes over Akpabuyo in the coming elections.
The Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, its deputy and majority of the state lawmakers belong to Peoples Democratic Party
