APC decries Harassment of El-Rufai by DSS

Mallam Nasir El-rufai
The All Progressive Congress has in strong voice decries the harassment of  the former Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam El-rufai over inciting statements by the Department of State Security Service.

APC described the storming of El-rufai's residence in Abuja as barbaric, shameful and uncalled for.

The Party in a statement in Abuja by its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, stated that the attempt to arrest El-rufai  with force  and not with proper warrant of arrest  negates the tenets of democracy.

It said there was nothing inciting in the statement credited to Mallam El-rufai that there might be violence if the 2015 general elections were not free and fair.

The party wondered why the DSS has not arrested the likes of Asari Dokubo and Chief Edwin Clarke who had threatened to unleash terror and violence should President Jonathan not be elected in 2015.

"The DSS is free to join the police in becoming a partisan and compromise national institution, but it should weigh the consequences of such action on its long-term credibility.," APC said.

DSS is seeking to query El-rufai over allegedly inciting statement concerning 2015 general elections
