The French President, Francois Hollande has on Saturday publicly announced his separation with the first lady, Valerie Trierweiler.  The number one French man declared his relationship with Trierweiler over on Saturday.

Trierweiler moved into the Elysee palace with Hollande when he became president and accompanies him on official travel after separating from former wife Ségolène Royal with whom he had four children.

The French President said: “I’m making it known that I have ended the life in common which I shared with Valérie Trierweiler.”

Mr Hollande is following the foot step of his predecessor, Mr Nicolas Sarkozy who divorced his wife and married another while in office.
